The commercial radio industry continues to work collectively to support and promote DAB+ digital radio. The awareness of DAB+ digital radio continues to improve, as a result of the radio and other industry campaigns scheduled throughout the year.
A number of on-air, online and social media campaigns are run across the 42 commercial metropolitan stations and DAB+ only stations each year. The primary objective of these campaigns is to promote and educate listeners about the key benefits of DAB+ digital radio and to encourage them to purchase a device in-store or online.
Commercial Radio Australia typically partners with a manufacturer and one or more retailers in the lead up to Mother’s Day, Fathers Day and Christmas each year, in order to capitalise on these busy retail periods. These campaigns, in combination with a number of generic campaigns, have provided an additional boost to DAB+ digital radio sales, resulting in the sale of nearly 2 million* receivers to 31 January 2016 (excluding vehicles).
